I definitely got my love of reading from my mother. I remember sitting on my bed as she read “Little House on the Prairie” to me. As I got older, I would practice by reading to her. Over the years she had other projects she worked on and didn’t read as much. But lately, she’s been reading a lot more. I often talk about books I’m reading or reviewing, and there have been a few books she decided to read too. I asked her if she would like to write a guest review for my blog sometime and she said she would like that. The first book my mom reviewed was “The Great Alone“, and she enjoyed it. Now she’s reviewing another book she really enjoyed. This is her take on “I Liked My Life“.

Well…I really liked this book!
A family dealing with the sudden loss of their wife, mother, sister, and friend. All of them are trying to cope with their feelings and why this happened. The characters and their emotions seemed very realistic and for myself, I could identify having had a childhood friend die suddenly and only finding this out on the day of her funeral. All of the memories and emotions flooding in and the finality of it all. I had my own ideas of what happened with Maddy and was so tempted to jump to the end to see what really did. I resisted though and was surprised and gratified with how the story came to a close.
This was such a wonderful, and thought-provoking read. The characters were well-developed and the plot was great…loved it!
