A quick update…

Image result for update

Some of you may have noticed (and if you haven’t no worries!) that I have been posting a lot less in the last couple of weeks. I just thought I would write a quick little post explaining why.

I have some health issues that normally don’t interfere with my reading or blogging etc. However, in the last month, a few things have come up.

I had minor surgery last week that really shouldn’t have had any lasting effects but unfortunately, I’ve had a spinal headache ever since. It has finally started to ease up but I find if I use the computer too much right now, it does make things worse. Apparently, this can happen and should go away completely in another week or so.  I  have quite a few appointments coming up in the next two weeks and so I’ve decided to take a couple of weeks away from my blog, Goodreads, Twitter, Instagram etc. to give my head (and eyes) a really good break.

I’m reading some really awesome books right now and I’m looking forward to finishing them and posting reviews that I hope you’ll enjoy. I am also looking forward to coming back and catching up on all of your wonderful posts!

Happy reading!!!!

Teaser Tuesday – October 9, 2018

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by The Purple Booker.

It is very easy to play along:

• Grab your current read and open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!
• Share the title & author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Here are my “teasers” :

“What do you do when you know something and nobody will listen? When you need answers and nobody will provide them? When you can’t trust anybody to help you?”

From the novel:

The Night Olivia Fell by Christina McDonald

The Night Olivia Fell

Goodreads Description:

A search for the truth. A lifetime of lies.

In the small hours of the morning, Abi Knight is startled awake by the phone call no mother ever wants to get: her teenage daughter Olivia has fallen off a bridge. Not only is Olivia brain dead, she’s pregnant and must remain on life support to keep her baby alive. And then Abi sees the angry bruises circling Olivia’s wrists.

When the police unexpectedly rule Olivia’s fall an accident, Abi decides to find out what really happened that night. Heartbroken and grieving, she unravels the threads of her daughter’s life. Was Olivia’s fall an accident? Or something far more sinister?

Christina McDonald weaves a suspenseful and heartwrenching tale of hidden relationships, devastating lies, and the power of a mother’s love. With flashbacks of Olivia’s own resolve to uncover family secrets, this taut and emotional novel asks: how well do you know your children? And how well do they know you?

My Thoughts:

I have only read a few pages of this novel but I am already hooked. I’m looking forward to reading more.

I hope my “teasers” intrigued you.

Do you have this on your “to be read” list?

Happy reading everyone!!

Music Monday – Brand New – The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows

musicmonday

Music Monday is a meme that was created by Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek. You pick a song and/or video and share it on Monday.

The song and video I am sharing today is:

Brand New – The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows

I love Brand New. This is one of my favorite songs from them. This band has some of the best song titles.

I hope you enjoy! Have a great week! 🙂

Brand New – The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows (Lyrics)

We saw the western coast
I saw the hospital
Nurse the shoreline like a wound
Reports of lover’s tryst
Were neither clear nor descript
We kept it safe and slow
The quiet things that no one ever knows
Keep the blood in your head and keep your feet on the ground
Today’s the day it gets tired
Then today’s the day we drop down
Give up my body in bed
All for an empty hotel
Wasting words on lowercases and capitals
I contemplate the day we wed
Your friends are boring me to death
Your veil is ruined in the rain
By then you like to do without
There’s nothing new to talk about
And though our kids are blessed,
the parents let them shoulder all the blame
Keep the blood in your head and keep your feet on the ground
Today’s the day it gets tired
Today’s the day we drop down
Give up my body in bed
All for an empty hotel
Wasting words on lowercases and capitals
I lie for only you
And I lie well
Halleluh
Keep the blood in your head and keep your feet on the ground
Today’s the day it gets tired
Today’s the day we drop down
Give up my body in bed
All for an empty hotel
Wasting words on lowercases and capitals
Songwriters: Jesse Lacey / Vincent Accardi

Where did September go? I feel like I say that every month but honestly it really did feel like I blinked and missed it. I didn’t get to read all that I wanted and I have a few reviews to write. That’s alright though, I know I’ll catch up. I have so many books that I’m excited about reading this month. I can’t wait!
